Call me by my name. participatory video documentation
58” video. Oct 2022After I first arrived in the United States in 2022, I encountered the situation where my Korean name could not be pronounced and spoken exactly. My identity in my name was blurred, diversified, and scattered.
I asked people in the United States (who are “foreigners/Americans” to me) to pronounce my name freely as they can. All of them pronounced my name differently. I documented twelve different people’s mouths pronouncing my name.
