작업 <새로운 안식처 New Haven>는 관, 공공 공원, 그리고 항공모함의 형태를 엮어 애도의 시각성, 공권력에 의해 정교히 다듬어진 일상적 공간, 그리고 군사화된 폭력이 교차하는 땅을 시각화한다. 목재 플랫폼에는 붉은 벨벳 천으로 마감된 작은 구덩이들이 있다. 땅이 파인 듯, 혹은 관의 뚜껑을 연 듯한 각 구덩이에는 일본 섬유로 만든 부탄의 종이가 담겨 있다. 지리를 횡단하는, 피부를 닮은 표면에는 군사적 폭력으로 훼손된 아시아 여자들의 흉터와 상처가 은밀하게 그려져 있다. 관람자는 플랫폼 위를 걷고, 놓인 조각들을 관찰하며 우리의 시야에서 사라졌던 여자의 몸들을 만난다.
The work weaves together the forms of a coffin, a public park, and an aircraft carrier. It visualizes a land where death, public authority, and militarized violence intersect. The wooden platform has small pits covered with red velvet fabric. Each pit holds torn, crumpled papers on which the scars and wounds of women are gently drawn. The audience is invited to walk on the platform, observe and touch the materials, to meet the bodies of women that have been missing from our sights.
