퍼포먼스 영상 <Taps>는 영웅화된 군사주의 속 희생되고 주변화된 여자들을, 그 몸들이 국경과 시간을 넘어 우리의 주변으로 흘러오는 순간을 시각화한다. 작가는 미국 뉴헤이븐(New Haven)의 육군 및 해군 장병 기념비 탑을 배경으로, 주변을 더듬어 나뭇가지, 돌, 잎사귀, 찌꺼기 등으로어느 잊혀진 몸들을 위한 탑을 쌓는다. 수평적인 관찰과 제의적인 접촉으로 만날 수 있는 이 여자(들)는 작가가 편곡한 미군 진혼곡을 배경으로, 붉은 노을에 뒤따라 오는 어둠에 거뭇히 잠긴다.
<Taps> is a performance video that imagines women silenced within glorified U.S. militarism seeping into our surroundings across borders and time. Set beside the massive Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument in New Haven, the artist stacks a small cairn from branches, stones, and debris reminiscent of fragmented bodies. These women—encountered through careful observation, gentle touch, and attentive gathering—are immersed in the fading light of sunset, as a soft voice humming the U.S. military requiem, Taps.
