Women I Met
Petrochemical-based compound (epoxy), bone ash, sand, 2025-2026
Women I Met (2025–2026) connects the shapes of found natural materials with the artist's tactile imagination of women's bodies. Made of a petrochemical-based compound (epoxy), bone ash, and sand, the sculptures visualize branches, small cairns, fallen leaves, and aged bark. Upon closer observation, each sculpture reveals fragmented parts of women's bodies that are affected by militatized violence (e.g., a severed tongue, swollen toes and fingertips, and a gunshot breast). Roughly scattered throughout the platform and the exhibition space, the sculptures hint at the bodies that have drifted here from somewhere else, to be encountered through attentive seeing and touch.
